With the slogan \u201cMeet your next favorite book,\u201d Goodreads is a bit of<\/p>\n

and rate them for your friends to check out. Write reviews, share favorite<\/p>\n

quotes or my favorite: have the site generate recommendations for you based<\/p>\n

on things you have liked in the past. Great place to send kids in need of a<\/p>\n

good book.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0Turnitin<\/a> \u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

So much more than just a place to catch cheaters, although it is very good at<\/p>\n

that. When students submit papers via Turnitin, those papers are tested<\/p>\n

against the internet as well as peer submissions past and present. Beyond<\/p>\n

that, it offers all sorts of revision tools to help improve student writing.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0Purdue OWL<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Whether your students need clarification on grammar, style or proper<\/p>\n

citations, this site can help. With printable and online practice and teacher<\/p>\n

resources, the OWL does an admirable job of fulfilling its goal of assisting<\/p>\n

students \u201cin their development as writers\u2014no matter what their skill level.\u201d<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0UNC Writing Center<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Handouts for virtually every writing issue your students could come across.<\/p>\n

Videos too! This site offers easily accessible lists for when a student struggles<\/p>\n

with a particular skill. \u00a0Just pull up this page and click away.<\/p>\n

6.\u00a0NoRedInk<\/a> \u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Let\u2019s be honest: None of us really loves teaching grammar. In most<\/p>\n

classrooms, there are huge differences in what students have already<\/p>\n

mastered and what they still need to learn. Enter NoRedInk. Here students<\/p>\n

get individualized instruction and practice with very little time and effort<\/p>\n

from teachers. The site does all the hard work for you.<\/p>\n

7.\u00a0Kahoot<\/a> \u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

I just started using this one, and it is awesome. I guess that is why their<\/p>\n

slogan is \u201cMaking Learning Awesome.\u201d Using Kahoot, it is simple to \u201ccreate,<\/p>\n

play and share fun learning games for any subject, for all ages, for free!\u201d<\/p>\n

You make up questions, or find a game that already exists, and students<\/p>\n

answer using their cellphones. With leaderboards and podium finishes,<\/p>\n

students are totally engaged in what used to be boring reviews.<\/p>\n

8.\u00a0Educreations<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n

This may be my favorite site for teaching students how to write and revise.<\/p>\n

Using my iPad, I am able to narrate over and annotate a piece of sample<\/p>\n

writing, explaining the revision process. For better understanding of how<\/p>\n

this one works, check out one I use for teaching introductions here<\/a>. \u00a0<\/p>\n

9.\u00a0Blogger<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

\u201cPublish your passions, your way.\u201d I have used Blogger for years as the home<\/p>\n

of both my class and personal blogs. Easy to set up. Easy to post. It allows you<\/p>\n

to create a place where you can disseminate content to students, engage them<\/p>\n

in conversation outside of class hours and supplement classroom instruction.<\/p>\n

10.\u00a0CrashCourse<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n

I admit I long for a bromance with John Green. Everything that guy writes is<\/p>\n

like kryptonite for a reluctant reader. Almost as good as his books are his<\/p>\n

CrashCourse videos. With remarkable animation to support witty and<\/p>\n

insightful overviews, his videos are a great asset in the classroom. \u00a0<\/p>\n

11. The Literacy Shed<\/a><\/h2>\n

This makes the list of best websites for English teachers for its collection of<\/p>\n

great visual content. Use it to find film, animation, photographs, and picture<\/p>\n

books that add to literary themes.<\/p>\n

12. English Grammar Online<\/a><\/h2>\n

This website is focused on teaching English as a foreign language, but the<\/p>\n

free exercises, tests, vocab, and more could be useful in any classroom.<\/p>\n
