Organize shelves of books you have read,<\/p>\n<p>and rate them for your friends to check out. Write reviews, share favorite<\/p>\n<p>quotes or my favorite: have the site generate recommendations for you based<\/p>\n<p>on things you have liked in the past. Great place to send kids in need of a<\/p>\n<p>good book.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>3.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/turnitin.com\/en_us\/k-12\">Turnitin<\/a> \u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>So much more than just a place to catch cheaters, although it is very good at<\/p>\n<p>that. When students submit papers via Turnitin, those papers are tested<\/p>\n<p>against the internet as well as peer submissions past and present. Beyond<\/p>\n<p>that, it offers all sorts of revision tools to help improve student writing.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>4.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/owl.english.purdue.edu\/owl\/\">Purdue OWL<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Whether your students need clarification on grammar, style or proper<\/p>\n<p>citations, this site can help. With printable and online practice and teacher<\/p>\n<p>resources, the OWL does an admirable job of fulfilling its goal of assisting<\/p>\n<p>students \u201cin their development as writers\u2014no matter what their skill level.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><strong>5.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/writingcenter.unc.edu\/handouts\/\">UNC Writing Center<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Handouts for virtually every writing issue your students could come across.<\/p>\n<p>Videos too! This site offers easily accessible lists for when a student struggles<\/p>\n<p>with a particular skill. \u00a0Just pull up this page and click away.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>6.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.noredink.com\/\">NoRedInk<\/a> \u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Let\u2019s be honest: None of us really loves teaching grammar. In most<\/p>\n<p>classrooms, there are huge differences in what students have already<\/p>\n<p>mastered and what they still need to learn. Enter NoRedInk. Here students<\/p>\n<p>get individualized instruction and practice with very little time and effort<\/p>\n<p>from teachers. The site does all the hard work for you.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>7.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/getkahoot.com\/\">Kahoot<\/a> \u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>I just started using this one, and it is awesome. I guess that is why their<\/p>\n<p>slogan is \u201cMaking Learning Awesome.\u201d Using Kahoot, it is simple to \u201ccreate,<\/p>\n<p>play and share fun learning games for any subject, for all ages, for free!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>You make up questions, or find a game that already exists, and students<\/p>\n<p>answer using their cellphones. With leaderboards and podium finishes,<\/p>\n<p>students are totally engaged in what used to be boring reviews.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>8.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.educreations.com\/\">Educreations<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>This may be my favorite site for teaching students how to write and revise.<\/p>\n<p>Using my iPad, I am able to narrate over and annotate a piece of sample<\/p>\n<p>writing, explaining the revision process. For better understanding of how<\/p>\n<p>this one works, check out one I use for teaching introductions <a href=\"https:\/\/www.educreations.com\/lesson\/view\/royals-fight-with-tools-intro\/14574336\/\">here<\/a>. \u00a0<\/p>\n<h2><strong>9.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.blogger.com\/about\/?r=1-null_user\">Blogger<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>\u201cPublish your passions, your way.\u201d I have used Blogger for years as the home<\/p>\n<p>of both my class and personal blogs. Easy to set up. Easy to post. It allows you<\/p>\n<p>to create a place where you can disseminate content to students, engage them<\/p>\n<p>in conversation outside of class hours and supplement classroom instruction.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>10.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/user\/crashcourse\/playlists\">CrashCourse<\/a><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>I admit I long for a bromance with John Green. Everything that guy writes is<\/p>\n<p>like kryptonite for a reluctant reader. Almost as good as his books are his<\/p>\n<p>CrashCourse videos. With remarkable animation to support witty and<\/p>\n<p>insightful overviews, his videos are a great asset in the classroom. \u00a0<\/p>\n<h2>11. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.literacyshed.com\/\">The Literacy Shed<\/a><\/h2>\n<p>This makes the list of best websites for English teachers for its collection of<\/p>\n<p>great visual content.
